Stefan Reiterer (KFU, advisor K. Kunisch): Optimal control of the wave equation with trigonometric operators

Abstract: In our work we discuss optimal control of the wave equation with help of trigonometric operators, which represent the solutions of the wave equation. The numerical discretisation is realized by Spectral Element Methods. To evaluate the operators we use rational Krylov methods which allow us a fast evaluation of the operators with help of fast transformations like FFT or symbolic methods. We provide numerical analysis, and discuss benefits and drawbacks of such an approach. We also provide some numerical examples in 1D and 2D. [hide abstract]
